BEHAVIOUR INTERVENTIONISTS
M.Sc. Psychology, M.Sc. Law & Justice
In June 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Julie made the perilous journey from Ukraine to Canada via Turkey with her two young sons. Julie has devoted all of her career to the improving lives of children with special needs. In 2010 as a new law school graduate, she worked for a highly specialized charitable foundation focused on children with needs spanning Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as well as those with physical and mental disabilities including trauma survivors and those needing psychiatric care specifically. As a communications liaison officer, her role at the charity was all-encompassing. In that role, she worked vigorously to maximize cooperation, communication and care between the organization, the children and their concerned parents towards effective decision making with a robust exchange of ideas and information. As her role deepened, she sought to expand her duties to more directly care for these vulnerable children. To that end, she returned to school and immersed herself in psychotherapy focused on children and families. After acquiring her psychology accreditation in February 2022, she started her own counselling practice in Odessa Ukraine. Now, she is excited to bring her broad education and work practice to the role of behaviour interventionist to improve challenging behaviour or to develop verbal, social, or daily living skills including play and communication, school readiness, and self-help skills that fosters confidence and independence.
